In addition to providing a relaxed riding atmosphere, Mere Mortals Mountain Biking works with several groups at helping provide volunteer activitiies. Mountain Bike Patrol and trail work are listed on separated pages.

There are also high school mountain bike teams in the Bay Area. They can probably use volunteers and donations if you're interested. Contact the NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League for more information. Mere Mortals has donated to both the Berkeley High School racing team and the Del Mar (San Jose) racing teams.

The Bra Ride - The Bra Ride is an annual event in Northern California and Arizona for all those gals that are brave enough to sport only a bra on top and for men that are secure enough in their masculinity to join the festivities. All donations for the Northern California Bra Ride are donated to Pathways Hospice.

Trips for Kids - Trips for Kids provides the materials, moral support and inspiration that an individual or group needs to help disadvantaged kids discover the joy of mountain biking.

Turning Wheels for Kids - Turning Wheels for Kids builds and provides bikes for non-profit organizations that gives bikes to needy children.

Sea Otter Classic - The Sea Otter Classic is a four-day, action-packed extravaganza of cycling and outdoor sport, featuring a full schedule of amateur and pro cycling events, jaw-dropping displays of cycling tricks, family activities for all ages, and the largest consumer trade show for outdoor-lovers in the world. They need people to volunteer for marshaling and other assistance during the Classic.

Youth Mountain Bike Adventures - Youth Mountain Bike Adventures takes a group of inner-city kids on what is sometimes their first visit to an East Bay Park. We teach them the basics of safe mountain biking, provide a healthy lunch, and give them a helmet and a T-Shirt to take home. More importantly these kids get a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from mastering the trails and the hills and their bikes which we also maintain and provide.
