This group is set up to introduce people to mountain biking, as well as provide a place for slow pokes to ride. However, just because we're slow or new, it doesn't mean we don't want to get good.

We offer some free riding clinics by various riders. Our clinics depend on who is offering to teach and what they are offering to teach. So if there's something you're interested in, please let Ray or Rodney know.

In addition to skills clinics, we have mechanical clinics. The folks at Evolution Bike Shop and Calabazas Cyclery, provide us with opportunities to learn how to do some basic wrenching on our own bikes.

Clinics We Offer

Skill Clinics: these sessions involve the majority time is focused on learning and practicing a particular skill or skills, such as cornerning, and is led by a more experienced member or a skilled rider from outside the group.

From time to time, clinics taught by well-known experts may be organized and scheduled. They will usually involve a fee (i.e., for the expert).

Mechanical Clinics: will be scheduled on an ad hoc basis and focus on bike equipment and maintenance.

Practices: usually takes place as part of a ride, where the emphasis is on practicing a particular skill or skills multiple times. Ride leaders are free to include a practice session in any of their rides.

Beginner Clinics and Rides: Beginner clinics and rides need to be scheduled in advance, but there is no limit to the amount of beginner clinics or rides we will hold.

Clinics and practice sessions will be listed on the calendar, and in some cases for skills may be incorporated into a ride. If you wish to request a clinic or practice session on a particular skill, you can do it informally by talking to one of the ride leaders, or formally by contacting Anne-Marie at anniejumeau at yahoo dot com.
